"I would strongly advise against utilizing the services of the Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Department for such purpose.  I sent them some papers for service, with a cover letter providing them the respondent’s full name, date of birth, phone numbers, home address, Eau Claire County DOC parole agent’s name and number, the respondent’s work place, and they attempted service 4 times = each time during 9 to 5 hours (specifically: 9:30 a.m., 10:00 a.m., 1:30 p.m., and 10:30 a.m.) at his HOME address only, and each time missing him, sent me back affidavits saying the person had no usual place of abode in Eau Claire County and cost me $210.00. For what it’s worth, I actually don’ believe it was the deputies fault. I think the deputies who were attempting service never saw the cover letter I sent with that information. I think they were simply given the respondent’s name and home address (and nothing more) from their “Civil Process Coordinator”, a woman who was entirely less than friendly when asked about this in a recent phone call."

If there are more then 1 plaintiff that needs service in the same area, I group them up and the plaintiffs split the miles between all. I also file the original affidavit of service with the appropriate court house (no charge). On the non eviction actions, after the diligent tries, I will call the plaintiff/attorney and see if they would like to publish for them(You only pay the invoice for the paper,I do not make any profit on the publications). This cuts down on amended court cases.

Vernon County

"Does a great job."   Dennis Kurzydlo, 608-847-5246  He’s out of Mauston (in neighboring Juneau County ) but serves this area.  ( 608-637-2123 ),  The Vernon County Sheriff’ is actually quite efficient, too If you are trying to serve someone in eastern Vernon, and might be less expensive than paying Dennis to go the western side of the county.
